viewpoint--a place from which something can be viewed

Most the time when we go on our horseback rides we are on top of the mountains looking west out at Antelope Island But these pictures today will give you a different perspective I will be on the island shooting east back towards the mountains. (click on name and it will take you to the islands website)

The island is full of wildlife you can always find bison, antelope, deer and for the first time I have seen coyotes.

the little star in the background is where we started from, I have more pictures posted on my Flickr site

“Photography can only represent the present. Once photographed, the subject becomes part of the past.” -Berenice Abbott

“But tomorrow, dawn will come the way I picture her,
barefoot and disheveled, standing outside my window
in one of the fragile cotton dresses of the poor.
She will look in at me with her thin arms extended,
offering a handful of birdsong and a small cup of light.”
William Collins

Could not have found a better quote for this picture, I just happened to walk past my kitchen window and there it was looking into my world luckily my camera was on the table so I slowly picked it up so has not to startle this bird away. Another first I think this is the biggest bird to land on my little post. When you shoot through dirty windows does that count as a filter or a texture.....

the little Wood duck was back this time digging up acorns out of the snow.

Dr. Larry Jung

This is Dr. Larry he was a neighbor to my husbands family for many years. He took care of my kids off and on for many years saving us the expensive clinic visits on many occasions. Him and his wife joy let me and many others into their home for free medical help. What a strong work ethic him and Joy both had. I think now how unselfish he and Joy was to let that happen. I owe a lot to him when Kacy was six months old I had noticed something different about her, my regular family doctor had checked her out and told me there was nothing wrong with her and just told me I was a nervous mother. But I continued to see there was something wrong . So Larry told me to bring her down to his house and let her sit with him and Joy one day, of course she was okay while at his house but no sooner had I walked out the door with her she turned blue and quit breathing. I got her back across the street so he could see her and he immediately called the hospital to have her admitted. She had been having seizures and they had been growing in severity. I hope you can take the time to read the newspaper atricle about him and the comments the people are leaving and how many lives he has saved. A special spot for him in heaven for sure and in the many hearts that are left behind.

photos of the day

I had the most colorful visitors in my back yard yesterday this is the first time they have been here kinda like the swans before them. Have no idea why they are here just enjoy seeing how beautiful their colors are.

“Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.”

This is a picture that I cross stitched long ago for Dennis it so reminded me of the stories he would tell about hunting with his grandfather.

Missing...........

Gosh do I miss this sweet couple.

April 29, 1933

I have all ready written about Dennis's grandparents, and the little town I grew to love called Monroe but yesterday when I should have been taking down Christmas decorations I decided to color instead. I got this old photo and and I scanned it and played with it a little I love old black and white photos and I know I should not mess with perfection but I just wanted to see what I could do with it. Took many , many tries and before I knew it I had spent a couple of hours going through my textures trying to find the right ones.

Back In The Saddle Again-Pretty Valley

We had a extra rider with us on this trip McKaela decided to brave the 17 degrees of freezing cold temperatures to tag along with us I must admit me who hates to be cold at all did pretty good it was not till the last 30 minutes of the ride down I even got cold. Not much wild life again got a shot of one little deer off in the distance but it is hard for me to shoot on top of a horse who is panting from carrying me up the side of the mountain and by the time I got to a spot where I could get a picture the horse was heaving so hard I could not get a good focus and I knew if I tried to get off the deer would take off and I would loose the shot. The first time I was taken to Pretty Valley was in 1972 Dennis and I and some of his friends rode the horses up there if I remember right it was Christmas day, it was the first time I had ever been on a horse in that deep of snow it was almost up to the horses belly but what great fun we had. Then the second time I was there it was that summer in July when Connie who is Dennis's sister and another friend and I decided we would ride up there on our horses one hot July night and sleep over up in the little Valley just like real cowboys do, it was great fun until during the night a big thunder storm moved in on top of us drenching us and scaring the life right of out of us at the time with the thunder and lighting so close it was a wonder the horses had not taken off, I remember trying to put the saddle back on my horse the blanket was swollen up with rain water and my hands being so cold trying to tighten up a cinch it seemed impossible at the time almost like putting on a girdle.

Got to admit this is one of the best times to be last in line, the first one has to go through and knock the snow off the second one gets all the snow dumped on them, and the third one which is me gets to stay a little warmer and dryer. I was wondering why Dennis kept asking me to be in the lead like it is some kind of honor but now I know better.
