A young couple snuck off to Elko, Nevada to elope. There they met up with a Justice Of the Peace who just happened to be a hunchback. All he really even seen of this very young couple were the shoes that they wore. In fact he remembered the shoes so well that when my Dad and Mom returned to Elko to be witnesses at another elopement about a month later the Justice of the Peace said "I think I recognize those shoes".
Even though Dad is gone I can not help but think about them both today.
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad.

This is the wall quilt I made for them on their 50th wedding anniversary the link to the quilt and its meaning is here.

One Mile

One mile is about the distance that my mom lives away from me. You would think with that short of distance that we would pretty much have the same birds at our feeders. Mom has been telling me about a pheasant that has been coming up to her back deck so I spent the other day over there waiting patiently for him to come and he never showed up until I had arrived back home. Even though I did not get the pheasant it was a good day to see the other beautiful birds that she attracted to her feeders. And of course it rained and rained and rained it has been non-stop for at least five days the mountains are saturated, rivers are starting to flood and we have had some mudslides.

The roan loves bird seed also as soon as you are out filling up the bird feeders he waits at the fence for his share.

photos of the day

This little bird has some type of a growth on on it's head.

Dennis promised the kids that when we had a bit of good weather he would get the horse out for them to ride so we took advantage of the one day at the first of the month to do so and it has been cold and rainy since.

Wesley waiting her turn.

I was really surprised that Wesley even got on the horse she has been a little frightened of them in the past but once she got on she loved it.
