Sweet Memories

Sweet Memories

Where will I get
my sugar fix
now that
Uncle Tommy's gone?
Plenty of
chocolate
and laughs
to last me
the whole day long.

Oh, how I will miss
those visits
that we shared.
Warm Snicker bars
that would
melt
in my hand.
Cowboy mix
and
black licorice
too.

A candy jar of
of never-ending
sweet
memories .

Most the times when Mom and I would go visit Tom it was spur of the moment. We would be out running errands and would swing by. It would never fail that no sooner we would enter we would be offered something to eat or drink. One thing that was always on hand were Honey Buns , doughnuts or cookies. Since I had given up eating anything that was made from flour about two years ago about the only thing I would go for is the candy jar, sadly to say .
I could make a meal out of Toms confectionery delights. It became a joke that I was in need of a sugar fix and he was my supplier. Yes I am a sugar-holic. I have even passed it on to Haddie Kacy sent this to me the other day I could not help but giggle.

"Haddie, what do you want for breakfast? Waffles or cereal?

No mommy, these. (rice crispy treats)

Hadley those are sugar treats, not for breakfast.

But I wike sugar! When my gwanma comes ober, I will eat wots and wots of sugar!

And with the passing of Tom about the only three good things I can think about is that he has been reunited with everyone that has gone on before him and he is free from his pain and maybe just maybe my waistline might shrink .

Darling tribute - I glad you decided to do it. Along with the sugar fix, was the daily dose of obits that he had cut from the paper, the never-ending CNN new stories, and having him tell us how he was in 'great shape for the shape he was in'! I love these military pix of him too.

Say HI to Dad, Mom, Clyde, Margie, and all the grandparents for us.

What do you think they are doing up there? pulling pranks, probably. For some reason Im picturing it in black and white, with the old cars and women in aprons.
I remember being amazed by the spoon collection, as a kid. And as an adult, yes, the snickers bars. Going to miss the wise cracks most of all.
And yes, Grandma is Hadleys biggest allie in our house.

Sweet-tooth-itis definitely runs in the Fry family. My dad can down a Costco size bag of gummy bears in a few days (or so it seems!) But I have a double dose because I walked into the room my mom was in Sat. night and she immediately handed me two milky way candies!! No wonder I look like this!!

The biggest thing I regret is that I didn't spend more time with Uncle Tommy:(

I am so sad that I am out here on the east coast and not there with Tom and ALL of his huge family. Everybody in Utah loved him. He left a lot of well-loved people behind. Thank you Uncle Tom.

I love what you did with the boots. I have a Horse and hunting man cave family room. I need to do something like that with my late dear hubbies boots. I will show some pictures some day. Blessings Deanie
