Little S" Tinker

I have had my share of run-ins with these little creatures but this one is just to cute . This is a quilt made by a man named David Taylor. I love his quilts, he can even capture the twinkle in this little goats eyes. Go look at his gallery of quilts and click on the detailed stitching that he does they are remarkable.

We had a goat growing up, but it had gotten to a point of who was going to survive. Mom finally got tired of being bullied by this goat and we loaded him up in the back seat of the car one day and took him for a ride . Mom found someone who would take the little bounder off her hands. One thing I learned is to never loose eye contact with a goat.

60 Years Young??

Better clarify a little I am early getting this out Friday is the actual big Doom-Day whoops that came out wrong I mean Birthday!!

You know you are getting old when.............

"Getting a little action" means you don't need to take a laxative.
Adult diapers are actually kind of convenient.
All of your favorite movies are now re-released in color.
At cafeterias, you complain that the gelatin is too tough.
Conversations with people your own age often turn into "dueling ailments."
Everything hurts and what doesn't hurt, doesn't work.
In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.
It takes a couple of tries to get over a speed bump.
It takes longer to rest than it did to get tired.
It takes twice as long to look half as good.
It's harder and harder for sexual harassment charges to stick.
Many of your co-workers were born the same year that you got your last promotion.
No one expects you to run into a burning building.
People call at 9 p.m. and ask, "Did I wake you?"
People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.
Someone compliments you on your layered look.... and you're wearing a bikini.
The car that you bought brand new becomes an antique.
The clothes you've put away until they come back in style... come back in style.
The end of your tie doesn't come anywhere near the top of your pants.
The little gray-haired lady you help across the street is your wife.
The pharmacist has become you new best friend.
The twinkle in your eye is only the reflection of the sun on your bifocals.
There's nothing left to learn the hard way.
Things you buy now won't wear out.
When getting lucky means you find your car in the parking lot.
When happy hour is a nap.
When tying one on means fastening your Medic Alert bracelet.
When you are cautioned to slow down by your doctor instead of the police.
When you don't care where your wife goes, just so you don't have to go along.
When you have a choice of two temptations and you choose the one that will get you home earlier.
When you realize that caution is the only thing you care to exercise.
When you step off a curb and look down one more time to make sure that the street is still there.
When you stop buying green bananas.
When you wake up with that morning-after feeling, and you didn't do anything the night before.
When you were in school there was no history class!
When your birth certificate says expired on it.
When you're told to act your own age, and you die.
You and your teeth don't sleep together.
You are 17 around the neck, 42 around the waist, 96 around the golf course.
You are proud of your lawn mower.
You begin every other sentence with, Nowadays

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET SUE!!

I know you do not fit any of the above scenario's quite yet ................

Have a great one, love Whitey

A Star is born

Our very own McKaela made her first appearance on stage today has the beautiful Cinderella. She even danced a little with a boy and only got stepped on once that I could see. Great job Mack, Disneyland may want you in a few years to come work for them! I am hoping Kari got better pictures that she can post on her blog .

She got lots of hugs from Paige and Hadley at the end of the show

Body Paint by Haddie

It was such a nice warm day here which is unusual for us here in Utah that I decided to take advantage of it and let Hadley try painting. Since she loves to mash and cream most of her meals I figured she would be a natural when it came to finger painting. She was a little timid at first but then she got into it.

Recycled

Bored again not much to write about so I thought I would show you the table that has been recycled a few times and am thinking it is time to change it again. The base of this table came from a table that we bought along time ago the top of the table came form my husband parents house that was the typical formica covered kitchen table that came with the extra leaves to it so we ripped off the formica and recovered it in some oak flooring that we rescued out of a building that was being demolished. The first time I did this I painted the base white and just sealed the oak with a clear finish then after we remodeled our old tv room into a dinning room I decided it need a face lift the first paint technique I tried was a copper patina effect did not like it so I started over by thinking *What if* I could make this look like a piece of material so I took left over paint from the dining room and did the first layer then I started to a tape out different ideas and added other colors to it, for the life of me can not remember really how I did it and will never try it again it was just one of those one and only things.

APHORISM

Your laugh for today comes from my cousin Leeann , #19 is my favorite, thanks for the giggles!

An APHORISM is a short, pointed sentence expressing a wise or clever observation or a general truth. Here are some "gems."

1. The nicest thing about the future is that it always starts tomorrow.

2. Money will buy a fine dog, but only kindness will make him wag his tail.

3. If you don't have a sense of humor, you probably don't have any sense at all.

4. Seat belts are not as confining as wheelchairs.

5. A good time to keep your mouth shut is when you're in deep water.

6. How come it takes so little time for a child who is afraid of the dark to become a teenager who wants to stay out all night?

7. Business conventions are important because they demonstrate how many people a company can operate without.

8. Why is it that at class reunions you feel younger than everyone else looks?

9. Scratch a cat and you will have a permanent job.

10. No one has more driving ambition than the boy who wants to buy a car.

11. There are no new sins; the old ones just get more publicity.

12. There are worse things than getting a call for a wrong number at 4 AM. It could be a right number.

13. No one ever says 'It's only a game.' when their team is winning.

14. I've reached the age where the happy hour is a nap.

15. Be careful reading the fine print. There's no way you're going to like it.

16. The trouble with bucket seats is that not everybody has the same size bucket.

17. Do you realize that in about 40 years, we'll have thousands of old ladies running around with tattoos? (And rap music will be the Golden Oldies!)

18. Money can't buy happiness - but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Corvette than in a Yugo.

19. After 50, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably dead!!

20. Always be yourself because the people that matter don't mind, and the ones who mind, don't matter.

*1976*

Still trying to get caught up on birthdays, this is Jared my second son he was born March 3, 1976. At the age of two I knew he was going to be hard to keep up with. He was born with no fear that included strangers, mad dogs, or anything else that moved fast. He could tolerate almost anything except socks that did not fit just right or tags on his shirts, trying to get him out the door sometimes was crazy if his socks did not fit just right he would keep taking them off and on till they did or go with out. I had a real fear of him being picked up by a stranger because he was so friendly he would go up to anybody and talk to them . At times he has a sixth sense about him if something is lost he can find it . He can pick out fossils in a pile of rocks he can find arrowheads in the dirt or Easter candy that I thought I had hidden well.
One deer hunting season Dennis's Uncle had lost a knife that his grandfather had made out of an old spring tooth plow it was a real family treasure, he had loaned it out to a friend and they had lost it up in the mountains. The next day Jared, Dennis and JD were up in the same mountains when Jared came across this knife he was so excited over the treasure he had found and what 8 year old boy would not be, not knowing that it belonged to his great uncle. When the three of them returned to camp Jared was showing off what he had found, Vernon was in shock that it had been found after he himself had gone back to find it. Jared knew that he would have to give it back after Vernon had told him how much meaning this knife had to him. Vernon's wife Ann was with them that day and being the kind hearted woman that she is she asked Vernon if he would will it to Jared, that is all it took for Jared he knew one day that knife would be his . From that point on it was called the Will -It knife. The next day back up on the mountain Jared asked if he could see the knife one more time, he figured out it was going to be along time before Vernon left this earthy life and the knife behind, but Vernon got such a kick out of Jared that he let him have it that very day.
One of the other things Jared has a knack for is letting secrets out of the bag never intentionally just not thinking far enough ahead. One Christmas Dennis had taken the kids out to buy a gift for me. I am sure all the way home Dennis told the kids to keep it a secret. At the dinner table that very night Jared announced to everyone that " You would have be so proud of Dad today that not once when he as standing in the long line of crowded shoppers did he get out of patience while buying you a new TV!" You should have seen the look that he got from his Dad and all the other kids. It just cracked me up even then Jared did not realize what he had done.
He is a comedian, he will be the one making me giggle on my death bed when I am on my way out. Love you Jared.

Through The Years

Seventy-Five to be exact! This is Dennis's lovely mother Ora Lee it is her birthday today. She grew up in Idaho then migrated down to Utah where she met a handsome young man from Monroe. I guess you could say it was love at first site and they have been together ever since .

It is hard to talk about one with out the other they really go hand in hand.
The love they show for each other and the family is truly an inspiration for us all. Her devotion to her faith, her husband and all her family is amazing. She was a New Born Intensive Care nurse for many years flying out to the four corner states transporting premature babies back to the University of Utah Hospital. She put in long hard hours helping save such tiny lives. And still enjoys taking care of some of her newest additions to the family tree!

This picture was taken at their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary with some of the great-grandchildren I think I have lost count as to how many have been added and soon to be added what a legacy!
This is the all the grandchildren and some spouses .
And of course Little Miss Sunshine who lights up her life one day of the week when they spend time together. Happy Birthday Mom you have been there throughout they years for me you have helped me through some hard times and I thank you , love Clydene.
