Little Miss Wesley Ann has the funniest face that she has been pulling lately I wanted to capture it on video and with some pictures I found that I have a rapid fire button on the camera that will take a bazillion pictures in a second so I thought I would try it out.This is such a fun age.

Happy Accident!?

Can I say that with out getting into trouble? Feb 1st is my youngest sons birthday. Yes I admit that Kyle was well sort of an accident. Not that I did not want him it was just the timing of it all. I even tried to pretend I was not pregnant but when I started to drink olive juice right out of the can I had to accept it. What can I say about Kyle, life with him has been a roller coaster ride. There were times I wanted to jump off, times I do not remember being on, the times I wish I could forget, and the times I have loved every minute with him.


You can see that even at a young age he had style!

















He loves to be surrounded by the ladies













But most of all I love the person he is today, Happy Birthday Kyle!

Why is it always easier to demolish than to re-build? After 25 years of the same paint and carpet it is time to change! It was fun to see artwork done by kids on the sub-floor when the carpet was ripped up. Hard to believe how fast time has gone by.
We will be raising the sunken part to make it a much bigger room (yea!) Guess now I need to come up with a plan on what to do.

FROZEN IN TIME

Went back out to play with the camera today it seems our little neck of the woods has been in a deep freeze for so long that every little thing takes on it own characteristic of frost . What looks like soft white ribbon on the barb wire fence is hair from the horses tail that gets caught on it even the chicken wire has an added sparkle to it.

Now that I got your attention my friend Gayle was featured yesterday on one of our local TV stations take a look at her blog called the Middle Sister and see her wonderful hooked rugs and the talent she has.

Monroe, Utah

Is also called Little Green Valley it was the home of Dennis's grandparents Clifford & Afton . I remember the first time I went there it seemed to take for ever going thru all those small towns along the way, now with an interstate close by it's a little faster. I would give anything to take the old roads and travel it today. Monroe had wide city roads that on early October mornings you could walk and in the distance could smell the smoke as the farmers were clearing their ditch banks it was a nice smell not over powering just nice. I loved walking the town looking at all the old homes along they way. Downtown was the old drug store that as soon as you walked in the floors would creak almost like an alarm going off letting the owners know you had entered. The people who owned the little movie theater were friends of Forbush's and if there was something they thought young children should not see at their theater he would put his hand up in front of the projector and block what ever scene he that thought was inappropriate for the young uns!
This was the kind of town that people had good times and hard times . The stories Clifford and Afton would tell , between the flu epidemic that took Afton's father life, to the hard times of the depression, and the fun this town would have has a community from sports, square dancing and of course there was always fishing stories. We would travel to Monroe every October and join up with the rest of the extended family for the deer hunt.














This is one of the houses I have cross stitched actually I have stitched this one twice. One went to Clifford and Afton the other to Arthur, my father-in-law. One thing that was important to them was home, they both truly loved this place. The wishing well out in the front yard was built by Clifford. He was a homebody rarely left and if Afton took little trips she was always happy to be back in the comfort of her home she truly loved this home with all it memories. The day of her funeral we had gathered here and as we went out the front door I took the picture off the wall and placed it with her in her casket along with all the other family members who placed special mementos in with her. They both were truly great people, Afton was the one who got me interested in quilts.


















This was Grandma Jones house she was Afton's mother. I never met her for she died shortly after I married into the family. Arthur loved to tease and tell Grandma Jones stories he would tell her that one day he would ride his horse off the mountains of Monroe and give her a silver dollar. So one of the last times he was there for the deer hunt he fulfilled her dream, I wish I could have seen the look on this woman's face has he rode up to her on his horse as she sat out on her front porch. So when it came time to have this house framed I was able to find a silver dollar that was made the year Arthur was born and had it placed in a cut out of the mat along side of the cross stitch. So if you ever want to go on a road trip to Monroe call me up would love to go.

iN tO tHe wOoDs

Over the Christmas holiday Hannah was able to come home on leave from the army so her mother wanted to take advantage of it and have an all girl trip up to their cabin. The cabin is located on the Wyoming side of the Uinta mountain range. You park your vehicle down below and load all your gear , water , gas, and lots of giggling girls onto a sleighs being towed by the snowmobiles and head up the mountain. What great fun we had has a family enjoying this beautiful scenery. But when it was time to come home the weather had changed, and that is one place you do not want it be stuck, they have these big gates on the interstate and when it gets bad they shut them leaving you stranded. Though it got a little hairy on the drive home with screaming babies, whining kids and slippery roads we took it slow stuck together and all arrived back home safely. Kari's little sister was the optimist in the group she kept insisting "will be fine- lets just go- well be fine" and we were.

From Skunk Hollow to the Other Side of the Mountain

Dennis gave me a new camera for Christmas it is overwhelming with all that it has, so I took it out for a test drive yesterday with my Mom who has been cooped up for at least 3 weeks not feeling well so while the sun was finally out the air was clear we went on a road trip.

A Year Ago

It is hard to believe a year has passed since Hadley was in the hospital with a virus from hell who would have thought she would end back there this year. I have never felt so helpless in all my life on this the very last day of 2009. Hadley was not feeling well so instead of her going up to spend the day with her Aunt Kari I told Kacy that I would keep her with me, Kacy was running late so I told her I would meet her at Kari's while she unloaded Wesley Ann I put Hadley in the car with me she woke up long enough to tell me she was not feeling good. I got her home laid her on the bed and she told me we wanted to watch the Strawberry Shortcake movie so I popped it in and set out to find the baby monitor I had put it away a long time ago but something told me to get it out and plug it back in. It was not long before she had fallen to sleep once again, so I went into the kitchen and started to clean, with every noise she made I would go and check on her. She had been asleep about a hour when I could hear her waking up, I gave her a little kiss on her forehead and told her she felt warm and that I needed to take her temp she started to fight with me about it, no sooner had I turned my back to pick up the thermometer when she went into a seizure. It is hard to explain the fear I felt as I picked her up ran for the phone and called 911 I have no memory of time it just seemed to take forever as I talked to the dispatcher making sure she had the right address and me pleading for them to hurry.Then I heard her call my name I knew the dispatcher who was on the other end of the line with me as soon as I knew who it was I felt calmer as we talked I told her where Kacy was and she told me she would call her , soon I had paramedics and an ambulance crew in with Hadley and I. Asking me questions and Hadley laying in my arms even with them there I was helpless we went over her history , we discussed where she needed to go. I told them I wanted her to go to Primary Children's hospital but they informed me she needed to get somewhere quicker so that left me with two choices the hospital that had messed up on my Dad a few years back or the other one, I chose the other one. By then they were talking to Kacy as she drove to my house she was close enough they could wait for her , I carried Hadley into the ambulance while Kacy got her gear together to make the ride with Hadley. So that is how we spent our last day of the year, in a emergency room with Hadley being poked, prodded and x rayed. No real clue as to the sudden spike in temp that resulted in the seizure. Luckily Hadley has no memory of it either or her first ride in an ambulance and her first 5 hours spent in the ER. By the next day she was up and changing into her many tutu's, singing and dancing! She is forever my * LITTLE SUNSHINE*

Cross-stitch 1953 Studebaker and Old Home

Back in the days when my eyes worked the right way I did lots of cross stitching then I got into doing graphs for myself and others this was probably one of the hardest ones I ever did for a lady whose husband collected these old cars. This is the picture that I worked from and below the actual graph I came up with .

This was one of the most amazing houses that I did. The graph does not do it justice and I wish I would have made a copy of the picture that I worked off of. What I do know about this house is that it is located in upper state New York I remember it being in a wooded area it was absolutely beautiful. The gal that I made the graph for lived here in Utah. This was a house that belonged to some friends, it is one picture I wish I could have seen completed. As I studied the pictures of this home there was an image that I noticed in one of the top floor windows, there appeared to be a man dressed in period clothing it really looked like a ghost! When I met with the gal to give her the graph I asked her if she had ever noticed this image in the window. She could not believe her eyes has we talked about it she said the people who owned this home had grown up around this house as children, and they had thought it was haunted . And now they own it and a spend their time restoring it.

Merry Christmas to friends near and far!

*Home*Spun*Trees

I found this cute idea from another of my favorite blogs *Preferably Prim* and thought I would give them a try please go check out her tutorial on how to make this little tree.

I have made up three of these little containers for some of my friends , paper mache box,paint, stencils and greenery is all you need to make some of these up.

Should have been cleaning,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

But instead I got one of those wild hairs again thought I would make up a sign to go over to the property to put on the fence. I had some old barn wood out in the garage that was calling to me , telling me to put the laundry down and forget about clean underwear.


I have this little green cupboard that is a little dark on the top shelves at this point I did not want to drill into it to put a light fixture in, so I took some foam core and scrap book paper and made a new backing for it not to crazy about it, next time I will do it differently but it did lighten it up a little, then I found a little battery operated light at the hardware store that sticks to the top of the cupboard that will really lighten it up even more, now what to fill it with.

Five Years Old !

We all partied at the new BoonDocks that has just opened in our town. What great fun everyone had there were members of the family that even were brave enough to go out and ride in the go carts it was about 20 degrees and I bet with wind chill it was even colder. There was bowling, laser tag, arcades, good food and lots of family. Happy Birthday Evan Gunnar!
